Services

At Shuda Family Funeral Services, our family has been serving yours for over 40 years. We are committed to you and your personal preferences as we work together to design funeral or cremation services just the way you want it. Our experience has shown us that most families select one of the following services, each of which can be personalized to meet your wishes.

Traditional Funeral Service with Visitation and Burial

This is the most commonly selected service that we offer and includes personalized attention of funeral director, administrative staff, professional staff for coordinating, personalizing, and directing the funeral service, preparation and filing of legal documents, and other paperwork necessary to complete the arrangements: removal from the place of death to the funeral home; embalming and sanitary care of the remains; dressing, casketing, cosmetizing; use of facilities for up to four hours of visitation; use of the facilities for the service or set up at a church or other location; automotive equipment including funeral coach and service van; graveside service.

Traditional Funeral Service with One Hour or more of Visitation Prior to Service and Burial

Includes everything listed above with an hour or more of visitation prior to the funeral service at the funeral home, church or other location.

Graveside Funeral Service

This option includes everything listed above and may include a day of visitation followed by graveside funeral services instead of funeral services at the funeral home, church, or other location.

Cremation Choices

Cremation provides an alternative to traditional burial services yet still allows the option of visitation and funeral services should they be selected. The Shuda family owns and operates our own crematory, thus allowing us to independently maintain the trust bestowed on us by those who request cremation services. We are the only crematory owners and operators in Portage County, thus allowing us to promise your loved one never leaves the community to complete the services to honor their life. Options for the ashes from the human remains include burial on the family plot, scattering of the ashes, placement in an urn to be kept at home, or placed in a columbarium niche or other location.

Cremation Funeral Service

Direct Cremation

This form of disposition includes no ceremonies or rites. It may take place only after obtaining a signed death certificate from the attending physician along with a signed authorization from the authorized agent of the deceased. In the State of Wisconsin there is a forty-eight hour waiting period after the time of death before cremation can be performed since cremation is irreversible.

Cremation With Memorial Service

This choice includes the Direct Cremation, but also offers a memorial service and/or visitation with a memorial service to be held after the cremation.

    Pre-Arrangement

Pre-Arrangement of funeral instructions is a service we provide at no charge. We find ourselves working with more and more people as they choose to relieve their loved ones from the responsibility of making difficult decisions at a very emotional time. We help them achieve the peace of mind that comes from knowing everything will be exactly as they want it to be.

It is very simple to pre-plan your funeral wishes. Through the years we have seen how important it is for families to be prepared. Planning funeral arrangements in advance is easier for everyone involved and can be done in a series of steps. Depending what you are comfortable with, you may select any one step or combination of steps as we customize your wishes the way you want them. An hour of your time is all it takes.

    Step 1:
Simply contact one of our staff in person or by phone and receive answers to any questions you have or to request one of our free Pre-planning Guide Booklets.

    Step 2:
In our office or your home we will ask you general questions about yourself such as: vital statistics, family and work history, church and social affiliations, and obtain any other specific requests you might have. This information is then made into a permanent and confidential personal file which is kept at the funeral home until it is needed.

    Step 3:
If you so choose, you will have the opportunity to select the service package appropriate for you along with any merchandise such as casket, burial vault, urn or clothing.

    Step 4:
The final aspect of pre-planning is pre-funding. It is possible for you to prepay for a portion or all of the services and merchandise you have selected, which allows us to guarantee no increase in the price of what you selected. Merchandise and services in the future ... at today's prices.
