There are a lot of youthful memories from 819 Sherman avenue along with Bessie, Florian, Robin, Patty, and of course you Charlie! All that mischief and swimming with the girls at the McDill dam. Your family invited me into your home for months on end, Bessie (your Mom) would yell at me, "get out of my fridge" then sit me down at the table and feed me. Not only did you get me out of some serious childhood scraps, but you got me into a few less serious situations and we survived with a scolding from a family member, or even the local PD. Thanks for the memories Charlie. My condolences to your family, especially JoAnn. Somewhere I've some photos I took at your wedding. Rest in Peace big brother...

Charlie was a childhood friend who lived just a few houses away. Although we hadn't met in many decades, the description of him as fun loving with a quick wit is true to my fond memories of him during those good ol' days in Whiting. My condolences to his entire family and to his many friends. Rest in Peace, Charlie, you will not be forgotten.

Please accept my most sincere sympathy for the death of your loved one. We can find comfort in the word of God because it assures us that "there is going to be a resurrection" (Acts 24:15). God promises to give life back to millions of people who have died, and he desires to do so very soon.

We know this from what a servant of God from the past, Job, asked God: “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service (death) until my relief comes. You (Jehovah) will call, and I (Job) will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands." (Job 14:14, 15) God is longing to give life back to those who have died.

Perhaps these words do not calm your pain but we are certain that God will resurrect all those who demonstrate faith in the sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ. Reflecting on the divine promises found in the Bible will give you the hope and strength to keep going until all of God’s promises are fulfilled. May these words bring you and your family much comfort from Jehovah God, the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4).

So sorry to hear of this, such a very nice cousin, it's been a lot of years since I've seen or talked to Charlie but he was always such a nice man. Thoughts and Prayers are with the family. Carrie Rutta

Juanita, if you’re one of those who incessantly pastes your self-righteous generic religious commentary on obituary sites, please stop. I doubt Charlie would have appreciated it. But if you knew Charlie or his family, that’s a different story. As for me: Charlie truly was one of the kindest people I ever knew in my teenage years. He used to wear a silly furry white winter coat and when I drunkenly told him how much I liked it (to my recollection) he gave it to me! How’s that for a “he’d give you the shirt off his back” story? I hadn’t seen him in decades, but just this past year when filling up at the BP he hollered a booming “Hello! You remember me?” I sure did and I always will.
