Obituary

Mary Jane Meshak was called home to the Lord on February 22nd, 2021. Her journey on earth began 84 years ago as the fifth of twelve children from Edward and Lillian Drefcinski. Mary lost her mother at a very early age. Mary graduated from Maria High School in 1955. She worked at the McLellan’s dime store, the Telephone Company, the Whiting Plover Paper Mill and the Stevens Point Public School District as a Food Service employee, mainly at SPASH for 17 years. After retiring, she was a substitute for a few more years.

She met her life-long friend and companion, Ralph Meshak, and wed in August of 1962. Mary loved getting together with her family, walking, biking and working in her flower garden. Her retirement years with Ralph and her family included playing 500 Rummy, visiting with family, and spending quiet time putting together many puzzles in the living room. After her husband of 53 years passed away, Mary volunteered at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in several capacities including counting the weekly collections and taking care of the Mass sacristy cloths. She was a devoted Catholic and attended daily mass and adoration. She assisted the Franciscan Mission in downtown Stevens Point in various cleaning duties.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Barbara, James, William and Dorothy Drefcinski, her parents Edward and Lillian Drefcinski and her husband Ralph. She is survived by her four children, Cynthia Calhoun-Kosiec (Leon), Michael Meshak (Brenda), Patrick Meshak (Christine) and Melissa Bulin (Douglas), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Joan Formella, Ramona Stepaniak, Clara Sniadajewski and Dolores Lepak, brothers Paul, David and Earl Drefcinski and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday March 3, 2021 at St Peter Catholic Church. Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday evening at Shuda's. Masks will be required at the Funeral Home and Church.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
